I accidentally deleted my post on the 22nd so I am going to re-write it.  Or try to.

Medical Topic of the day:
Today's Topic:  Globus

Off the top of my head:  Well I know a lot about it now but yesterday I didn't.  I thought it was a neurological issue involving swallowing.  I was half right.

My research today:  Globus hystericus is the feeling of having an object in your throat even though there is nothing there.  It can be caused by physical ailments like laryngitis or esophageal reflux.  Physical manifestation of globus sensation is usually from irritation or swelling in one or more parts of the throat.  Globus is also psychosomatic in that it can be caused by anxiety, depression, and many somatoform disorders.

Globus is Latin for "globe."

Adolf Hitler instituted the first state sponsored anti-smoking campaign offering higher pay to enlisted men and officers that did not smoke.  Also he was a vegetarian, so take that vegans.
